They technically had 59 in January 2009.
However, Kennedy was sick and Franken wasn't seated until July, so they only had 57.
Specter flipped to the Dems in April 2009, giving them 58.
Franken was finally seated in July giving them 59.
Kirk replaced Kennedy in late September giving them 60.
Scott Brown (R) won the special election, and was seated in early January 2010.

So, barely 3 months, much of which was spent in holiday recess.
