I frankly wouldn't be too too surprised to learn that the NYTimes or someone, leaked this story to the NYPost at the direction of the deep state.
They are gearing up for whispering joe's departure. I still think it will be in january either just after or just before the state of the union address, depending on biden's ability to read the teleprompter.
