a bit of a hit piece. They could just as easily have done a hit piece on the AMA, such as its racist past, promotion of practices which later proved to be very harmful, such as thalidomide for morning sickness, radiation for acne & assorted other minor treatments, and now of abortifacient drugs. They also gave their "seal of approval" for any drugs if the companies would reveal their ingredients and pay big bucks for ads in their magazine. They have been quite political at times.
In other words there's a double standard here.
The AASP does not "promote medical disinformation". The "HIV/AIDS denial" was a 2006 article asking for more reasoned discussion on the topic as there were reasonable questions about problems with some treatments at the time and any discussion was shut down.
Life expectancy of homosexuals is indeed lower than it is for the general population.
There are solid scientific studies showing an abortion breast cancer link. That is still an open question.
There are solid scientific studies showing a vaccine and autism link. That is still an open question.
