That being said, there were Capitol Police officers in the same stairwell. Why weren't they moving in to remove her?

The entire incident reeks of incompetence from the command staff down. Pelosi is complicit as well. You don't allow you previous shift to go home and not hold them over for additional manpower. You do not fail to call in the evening shift officers early for extra manpower. You do not put officers out there with outdated and defective equipment. You don't construct a barricade "fence" from movable barricades which are easily moved aside.


All that being said, if THIS was an insurrection, then the nightly firebomb assaults of federal and public buildings in Portland, Seattle, Minneapolis, etc are also insurrections and yet while faced with aggravated arson the officers were never allowed to defend themselves with deadly force.
