the general thinking and resultant policies to this day are still:
1. We must eradicate this virus
2. We must have strict regulations and messaging because this virus is so scary
Imagine if the thinking was:
1. There will never be 0 covid cases, hospitalizations, or deaths. Eradicating it is impossible
2. This virus isn't deadly enough to the point we can't function as and live with it in a logical manner
