1000 people were polled. They took the results of those 1000 people and made the claim "13 percent of Democrats say they would vote for Trump today".

If I poll 2 guys whether or not they like chocolate and one does and one doesn't. That doesn't mean that 50% of all guys like chocolate.

And please explain how I "acted as if he was promoting or advocating for that research".
