While I am not a fan of George Soros and his politics, his success can not be questioned.

Last Weekend's WSJ had a multcolmned article by Soros on the current Chinese dictator, Xi. In the article, Soros warned that Xi's ambition is to make China the world's dominant nation in virtually every respect. He also warned that Xi is a flawed invidual who can and does make mistakes.

Soros suggested that Xi is fixated on recovering Taiwan for China and is not adverse to doing so militarily.

It's not a far step from watching the U.S. efforts in Afganistan come to naught and believing that the our efforts on behalf of Taiwan will suffer the same fate.

Bottom line is if Soros is correct in his judgment of Xi and his motivations, it would not be surprising to see China attempt to recover Taiwan through military means in the near future.

Watching our failure in Afganistan may lead to Xi assuming there will be a similar failure if he challenges us over Taiwan.
