1. Tragic for her, one way or another. If she just bailed out, very tragic for her to train for years only just to not have it the day of one of her biggest events, ever. Assuming that she does have a very difficult mental health condition, also tragic for her to have trained for years and not be able to compete.
2. It's bizarre this happens to a veteran of competition like Biles. This was not her first rodeo, far from it. You cannot get to be an Olympic level athlete without being subject to very intense competition. That this happened to an Olympic athlete, even moreso a veteran of Olympic competition, is bizarro.
3. She either let her team down or was aware enough to know that she would suck that day. But then again, part of being a team means that you have to suck it up and do your best for them, even when you're not at your best. Everyone on her team was counting on her, and she let them down. Too bad.
4. She cannot in my opinion be considered the "greatest" ever. She might be the most talented, but not the "greatest." The greatest have it, or find a way to have enough of it, when it matters most. The fact she didn't is not necessarily a strike on her personally, and not a strike on her talent, but it does mean in my opinion she's not the "greatest ever".
5. This is akin to Tiger Woods being tied for 1st going into the 2nd round of the US Open, hitting his tee ball out of bounds on #1 and then WD. At the prime of his career. It's not courageous - it's sad. This is not something to be celebrated.
