I sat through a rather good lecture on freedom of speech.

In the course of the discussion someone mentioned “freedom of the information market place” and suggested anyone “should be able to say or print anything they damn well please” and the listeners should be able to decide what they believed or didn’t.

Now that gets a little messy, but it made a lot of sense to me then and still does. Admittedly, it does can get a little messy. But there’s something innately appealing about letting folks decide for themselves.
