What critical race theory and other ridiculous attempts at rewriting history fail to take into consideration are the cultural norms of the times. Yes, we were a racist nation 150-200 years ago, but so were many other nations. In general, people weren't as enlightened as they are today. And while we still have a ways to go to purge racism from our society, we've also come a long way as a nation.
But if you believe the "progressives" out there, every white person should be held accountable for the sins perpetrated by every white person who ever preceded them. I, for one, don't feel one bit guilty of being a white person. My ancestors never owned slaves or supported slavery. My parents taught me to respect all people, regardless of race or national origin. And, I support the goal of social justice for all, as long as it doesn't entail violence or reverse discrimination.
