Serious abortion question

Please hold the nasty comments, I am against abortion. So I heard on a talk show today that abortion rates have been lower during Democrat presidencies than Republican presidencies. I was shocked because I know a major reason did many people’s allegiance to the party is the Christian anti-abortion stance. So, why is the rate lower? Is it a continuation of Republican measures that take time to go into effect and carry over into Democratic presidencies? Is it programs like Planned Parenthood. Is it falsified data? Coincidence?
