"SLMPD officers have been fired upon twice in the last 24 hours.
The first incident occurred yesterday in the 2200 S. Jefferson around 12pm. A suspect exited a sunroof and fired shots into an officers’ unmarked vehicle. Two suspects were taken into custody after a pursuit and the below firearm/drum magazine was seized.
The second incident occurred after detectives observed a suspect (who was on the sidewalk) fire shots at two vehicles, that were also exchanging gunfire near Goodfellow/Sherry around 1am on 6/10/21. The suspect then shot at the police car and at the detectives after they exited. The suspect was taken into custody near Park Ln and Switzer after the vehicle he fled in became disabled. No injuries were reported.
The Force Investigation Unit is handling both of these ongoing investigations."
