His mom should step up to the plate and tell her son to set aside the damn flag, apologize and get his diploma.

I assume the family knows they are from Mexico. I assume they are proud of that heritage. I assume that getting his diploma is important to them. The ceremony is about his graduation, not show off our national heritage day.

Mom is the real problem. Focus your son on what the event is about. No sympathy if he doesn't get his diploma.
