"Smith was on probation for an aggravated robbery conviction from 2017 and had failed to appear for sentencing in May on an unrelated firearm conviction in Ramsey County, which led to the state issuing a warrant for his arrest."
Failure to appear when you are already on probation for robbery is a pretty good way to get your ass tossed in jail. And being a felon in possession of a firearm, resulting in a conviction for not showing up for sentencing, is another strike. And being a dumb ass and pointing a firearm at those US Marshals who came to arrest you just means no one will have to think twice about your criminal behavior again.
