The US Supreme Court has directed a lower court to review its decision that law enforcement officers justifiably entered an Iowa home without a warrant. The high court remanded the case with instructions not to consider the "community caretaking" doctrine in light of the recent Caniglia v. Strom decision, with Justice Brett Kavanaugh writing that the lower court "used a now-erroneous label" but emphasizing that such warrantless entry is allowed in certain circumstances.
