There is more than enough capacity to meet the demand but mills in the US remain idled. Analysts see no logical reason for the mini-mills and larger mills to remain shuttered.

It sniffs of price fixing in light of Cleveland-Cliff's acquisition of ArcelorMittal's U.S. operations in late 2020 and U.S. Steel's acquisition of Big River Steel in early 2021
