And I've lived in the state much of my adult life. I often go there to escape the hellhole that Houston is. Both Houston and Dallas (especially Dallas) have much larger homeless populations. Because Austin has a more contiguous and walkable urban environment, and because it's more tolerable, you notice the homeless more. Austin's traffic is often gridlocked but that's my only real complaint. Great town.
