mistrial?

Sometimes it seemed like the judge was more concerned with the public reaction to his rulings than he was with following the law. When he ultimately ruled against the defense he seemed to do so in ways that opened the door for the defense to appeal.

Not sequestering the jury when riots broke out in the city.

Allowing the prosecution to constantly dump thousands of documents on the defense that should have been turned over before the trial.

Not calling for a mistrial when a prosecution discussed a topic that ht judge warned would result in a mistrial.

Publically commenting on Maxine Walters' actions.

Those all sound like he wants to rule for the defense but does not wantr to be responsible for the repercussions.
