cash bail and not made to post bond on the existing firearms warrant either. He is 20 years old and under MN law must have a permit to posses a handgun. You must be 21 years of age to obtain a handgun permit in MN. (yes...I know it's all unconstitutional). I believe part of that warrant also included a resist by fleeing charge.
Many jurisdictions were not taking people on misdemeanor warrants or even low bond felony warrants during covid. recently jails have been opening up to taking more warrants. some are taking all. some are taking all felonies. etc etc.
So he's pulled over for expired tags. They run him and finds he has a warrant for the firearms offense; which is a state misdemeanor.
The tell him he has a warrant. They begin to effect the arrest and he resists.
The officer idiotically believes she is tasing him and shoots him.
She SHOULD be charged with some form of manslaughter and I expect she will be. It was an accident but still gross negligence. That being said I have some empathy for her.
In regard to Wright I feel sorry for him and his family that he was killed. At the same time I feel he deserves some of the blame. A lot of things went wrong on both sides to get to that result although I do hold the officer most responsible and to a higher standard.
