The jury is not sequestered. It may be pressured to find Chauvin guilty simply so further demonstrations, riots, etc. can be avoided. That's not deciding the case on its merits.
I would not expect the trial judge, having denied a motion for change of venue already, to grant the motion. A year, eighteen months down the road, perhaps longer, an appealate court may rule differently.
I.e. it could find that Chauvin was denied a fair trial and remand the case for a new trial. That's starting from square one and raises all kinds of possibilities, i.e. a plea bardgin to a lesser offense with a minimal sentence.
What may seem to be an outrageous settlement/plea bargin today may not two years or longer down the raod.
And if Chauvin sits in jail while this is going on, a plea bardgin for time served is not out of the queston.
