My thoughts on LSU series..

It’s going to be a tough, probably low scoring weekend, similar to playing Auburn, although their best pitcher isn’t as good as Auburns Lowe.
They are a weak hitting team, hitting just .263 overall (we are hitting .350, 87 points better),12th in the SEC out of 13 teams, ahead of only Auburn at .261. The next worst hitting team in the SEC, Arky, hits 20 points better at .283. So our pitching by committee has a good chance of holding them down on the scoreboard and giving our potent offense and strong defense a chance for us to win.
Their pitching was highly touted at the start of the year when the were ranked in the top 5 in the nation in preseason polls. But their team ERA is at 2.65, just 10th in the SEC. we are 11th, at 3.09.
They have 4 pretty good pitchers though, and we need to get to them early in each game.
10 of their 12 losses are to top 25 teams, plus they lost to TAMU and Ole Miss. they have 6 top 25 wins too, as their pitching keeps them in a lot of games.
They haven’t been impressive at all lately. Last 5 games have been:
Win over ULM 7-5
Wins over a weak Ole Miss team just 1-0 and 3-2
Loss to Ole Miss 9-4
Win over a 13-14 LA Tech team, 6-4.
I’ll be really disappointed if we don’t take 2/3 against them, based on all that. Just like Auburn, strength again strength, weakness against weakness.
