Willie Smith starred at the University of Missouri as a 6’2″ shooting guard where he earned All-America honors. Smith, nicknamed “Mister Magic”, averaged 25.3 points per game during the 1976 season as he led Mizzou to a Big Eight Conference basketball championship.

He was the Big Eight's leading scorer in 1976, and scored 43 points in a narrow loss to Michigan in the NCAA Midwest Regional championship game. He was MU's MVP, all Big Eight and all-district in each of his two seasons, and was an all-American as a senior.

He still holds six school records and scored more points (1,387) than any two-year player in school history. He's one of five Tigers who've had their number (30) retired.
