They are a great team and a really good program. Unfortunately, they had to play an extremely hot team in UCLA which drained them before playing Baylor which breezed past Houston. Gonzaga beat a lot of good teams in their non conference and they beat the best teams in their underrated conference pretty easily. And they made it to the championship game. It's not like they haven't proven themselves.
