first place? Those things aren't free. They do cost the university money. Anyone who looked at Chang's past could see he wasn't going to add anything to a P5 team. I've seen enough Juco ball to know that if a guy isn't the best player on his team by a wide margin and doesn't dominate every game he's not going to help at this level. Did CM owe him something? Why would they just waste a spot? It's crap like this that makes me have no confidence in this staff.
