It is simply the next front in the ongoing battle of pitting demographic groups against one another, with an eye towards payback for alleged grievances. This has been going on for at least 40 years, probably longer. Politicians and political groups know how to stick with the plays that work.
Totalitarianism hates individual thinkers, belief systems and most certainly cannot tolerate letting people live their lives as they see fit. The US military is just a tool, like so many others, to crush ideas and philosophies that you may have that the Club ultimately disapproves of.
