A dispute over a house that was part of an estate. I recorded a lis pendens to stop the sale that his client was trying to close on for the property. The whole dispute was that the sale was to a family member of his client, for way less than fair market value.
So Watkins sends me this cartoonish demand letter threatening to sue me personally and saying I was doing had no basis in law. It clearly did and I cited the statute...the fact is that Missouri's lis pendens statute is very helpful for someone in my client's position. He also threatened to file a bar complaint for an ethics violation...I guess because he didn't know what a lis pendens was or did but just wanted to see if I would cower at his involvement.
His whole game is that he makes the case about hiring him but he only touches the file once to write some outrageous letter and bills the **** out of his client for it. In our case, I never spoke to him again and I later worked it out with an associate from his firm.
Even the associate said he was a dip**** and told me to check out his bio on their website. It was outlandishly self-aggrandizing.
Guy looks like death too.
