Having a higher ceiling does not mean you can't also have a lower floor. Good Watson was better than Pickett has ever been. Bad Watson is worse than Pickett has ever been. Unfortunately for Watson, and for MU, that level of good Watson only lasted about a month.
Nothing has changed in the last 2 years. If Torrance Watson were to ever return to the level of play he displayed the last month of his freshman year, he'd push Pickett to the bench and MU would be better for it. He just can't get there.
Pickett simply can not shoot at a position that needs a shooter. His ball handling is weak at a position that needs at least a little handle. He misses a lot of bunnies in addition to having no perimeter shot. He's decent on D but certainly not great. He hustle's his ass off, but can never be relied on to actually make the play.
