The story referenced the Herbert Hoover boy's club. For those who don't know that is the location of Sportsman's Park.
First sports bar ever was across the street at Sullivan and Spring and it is still in operation as a bar under different ownership. Cardinal players used to buy chewing tobacco and sunflower seeds at the bar because the Cardinals didn't provide anything for free and they could get it cheaper at the sports bar than in the clubhouse.
