Technology Revolution - Substantial Unforeseen Problems

It seems to me the world is in the midst of the Technology Revolution and, like the Industrial Revolution of the late 1800 and the 1900’s, it will create large and unforeseen consequences for society, that technology will bring great change and wrestling with that change will make great demands on the world.

For example, I am told that self driving vehicles are currently capable of replacing virtually all long haul truck drivers, virtually all truck drivers for that matter. Consider the implications of no longer needing truck drivers and the infrastructure that supports them, the implications of human beings becoming surplus to requirements.

The implications for the economy and society are clearly substantial and I frankly wonder if our social and political system and institutions are, will be capable of dealing with them.
