One of the bastions of segregation in the U.S. was South Boston, an Irish-American Kennedy stronghold. If you know anything about history, you'll remember there were riots when Boston/Mass. tried to desegregate South Boston High School by busing in black students. It seems like the Kennedys were all about integration at the University of Alabama and other southern institutions, but didn't exactly practice what they preached.

Having said that, I'd take the Kennedys any day over today's Dem leadership. Of course, JFK would be booed off the stage at a Dem rally or convention if he ever uttered these words today: "Ask not what your country can do for you. Ask what you can do for your country."
