For example, some Texas A&M fan/booster sets up a website where fans/donors/boosters can anonymously purchase $500 jerseys with all proceeds going to the player/recruit?
That's a simple system for funneling arbitrary amounts to any player/recruit.
"Hey [5-star recruit], here's the $100k we promised - just sign these 200 jerseys."
