Republican majority of the Pennsylvania state senate just had Pennsylvania Lt Governor removed from the chamber for refusing to recognize a motion that would deny a duly elected Democratic senator from being sworn in (note that LtGov John Fetterman didn't actually leave the chamber and he's about twice the size of anybody else in the room and Republicans aren't sure what to do, so right now they're mostly just pretending he isn't there).
President of the State Senate Pro Tempore Jake Corman is now presiding and the Republican majority has now refused to recognize the election of Democratic senator Jim Brewster -- because Brewster's Republican opponent, Nicole Ziccarelli, refuses to concede and is challenging Brewster's win in Federal court. (Note that Ziccarelli has already lost this case in state court and that it's very likely the Federal court lacks any jurisdiction over the issue).
Also, please note Brewster was certified the winner of his district by REPUBLICAN STATE OFFICIALS.
This refusal by Pennsylvania Senate Republicans is in violation of the state's constitution, which gives them the power to object to the swearing in of a senator ONLY if that person does not meet the requirements of office (i.e. age, residency, etc). The state Constitution does NOT give the senate the power to overthrow an election.
It’s really sad as to what Trump has done to a once proud Republican Party that I was a part of. Just an embarrassment
