As a society we started catering to an obviously stupid subset and treating them as if their stupidity warranted equal consideration and a level of respect. That is not sustainable. Everyone is entitled to their opinions and perspectives. But not everyone's opinions and perspectives should matter and carry any weight.

Pandering to their needs is not the role of these elected officials. They have actual jobs to do, and actually know better.
