Reminds me of a case I investigated in Carroll County maybe 30 years ago. The subject/suspect agreed to meet me outside the Carroll Co. Library. I knew he was wanted on charges in Ray Co. and so I had informed the Ray Co. Sheriff of the scheduled meeting. However, I asked that they give me at least 30 minutes to complete the 'interview'. The plan went off the rails when the Carroll Co. Sheriff showed up early and arrested my suspect. I acted like I was as surprised as the suspect and followed them over to the Carroll Co. jail. After processing they placed the suspect in the interrogation room where I could continue the interview. I asked the suspect what this was all about and he told me he didn't know, but they would have to get their information elsewhere because he refused to talk to them. I said OK, but would you allow me to ask my questions. He agreed and proceeded to provide evidence against himself and his employer. The Ray Co. Prosecutor was pleased and used the information at his trial. I still recall his name and he ended up serving 18 months in the State pen.
