Given your post you apparently are now aware that spending time on active duty in the military is commonly terms "active duty service", "military service" or something of the like.

And the concept is citizen who has enjoyed the benefits of the country "serves" the country.

I'm certain that you are well aware of everything I've said, so I have just one more question, have your ever served (that's be on active duty in the military)?
