And he kept back part of the proceeds, his wife also being aware of it, and brought a certain part and laid it at the apostles’ feet. The sin was not in possessing the land, nor in keeping back a portion. The sin was lying about what they did.
Peter said, “Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit and keep back part of the price of the land for yourself?
While it remained, was it not your own?
And after it was sold, was it not in your own control?
"Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God. Therefore whoever resists the authority resists the ordinance of God, and those who resist will bring judgment on themselves. For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to evil. Do you want to be unafraid of the authority? Do what is good, and you will have praise from the same. For he is God’s minister to you for good.
But if you do evil, be afraid; for he does not bear the sword in vain; for he is God’s minister, an avenger to execute wrath on him who practices evil."Romans 13
God’s minister bears the sword as God's avenger to execute wrath on him who practices evil. Someone has to bear the sword to carry out just punishment for the good of the community.
