If we tested everyone for influenza, the numbers on infected would double.

If someone just drops dead, medical examiners test for SARS-CoV-2. Anyone showing proteins common with the virus, regardless of whether or not it was fragments from a previous infection, a totally asymptomatic infection or an active infection at the time of death, are counted in COVID-19 death numbers.

Medical examiners do not do the same for influenza. Even though we do know influenza can cause myocarditis, blood clots, etc that kill just like SARS-CoV-2.



No such testing of deceased for influenza occurs.
