harm on one group of people to attempt to protect another group of people?

Government forcing closure of businesses has resulted in many having to permanently close. Those families are impacted from the adults to the children. 22.2 million jobs were lost due to the cascading effects of government shutdowns.

Drug overdoses have greatly increased. Suicides have increased. Domestic abuse is up. Children are having to be treated for PTSD, and their education has been disrupted.

The impact of shutdowns has disproportionately affected the poor.

All of this damage done, by government, to slow down, not halt, the deaths of the elderly (5.4% of those 70+ who get infected) and the infirm.

Why is this good?

Please explain why this message is being reported.
