Vaccine Update

The 22 members of a special FDA committee voted on approving the emergency use authorization ("EUA") of the Pfizer vaccine today. That committee voted 17-4 in favor of the vaccine (with one abstaining) that "based on the totality of scientific evidence available...the benefits outweigh its risks for use in individuals 16 years of age and older." However, this advisory committee's vote is still being discussed particularly on the lower end age range (as there is virtually no COVID risk for minors under the age of 18) and due to some of the reactions that occurred with some U.K. recipients upon receiving the vaccine that were not observed in the trials. As of this very moment, the FDA has not yet approved the EUA though it will most likely do so in the next few days.
