Then, in May, McConnell changed his mind. He wasn’t interested in doing broad relief and stimulus bills any more. He wanted to wait, and he had his own set of conditions, such as a provision shielding businesses from COVID-related lawsuits. Talking about how needy the economy was went against the GOP party-line denial that everything was fine.
