There is a risk of getting COVID.
There is a risk with getting a vaccine.
There is even a risk of getting COVID after getting the vaccine.
As with any health concern and intervention, don't be the first to experiment unless there is no better alternative. We know a lot more about COVID now and how to treat it than we did in the early stages. People who got it early on and died would be much more likely now to live as there are plenty of treatments which have been shown to work.
The same rule applies to the vaccine. These things are VERY experimental and there is so much we don't know. The U.K. is already adjusting their vaccination policy after one day. So I think the prudent course of action is to wait and see how other people who are in a similar situation as your wife respond to the vaccine and then armed with that information, make your decision.
