But it's pretty dumb to think that lockdowns would be effective long term. Yes, they temporarily reduce covid but nobody, no scientist, no government leader, ever argued that they would solve the problem long term. The only long term solution ever proposed was a vaccine.

But we now have at least two highly effective vaccines created. So within months we'll have a long term solution.

The question now is do we just let another 100K+ Americans die of this thing while we wait for the vaccines to be distributed?
