Started out 8-0 in games played the day before Thanksgiving.
On Friday, in addition to Mizzou’s opening win over N. Alabama, LSU lost to BYU and #14 Arky struggled in the first half but then beat Wake Forest 98-82 with a big third quarter. Still a shaky start for them.
Some big wins for the SEC yesterday.
#1 SC beat a good South Dakota team (as we well know) 81-71; after being tied at halftime, SC won the third quarter by 20 points, then South Dakota outscored them by 10 in the fourth for the final margin.
#13 TAMU had a huge road win at #19 DePaul, 93-91.
#14 Arky trailed by 7 entering the 4th quarter before pulling out a close one over FGCU 86-80. Earlier FGCU was thrashed by MO State 74-49. Not sold on Arky yet.
Also, Tennessee whipped WKU 87-47, Auburn barely got by Samford 66-64, and LSU falls to 0-2 on the season after getting blown out by West Virginia by 20 points.
On the young season SEC teams are 15-2, with LSU having the only two losses.
With the Mizzou cancellation, 6 more SEC teams are in action today, headlined by #1 SC playing #21 Gonzaga, and #14 Arky taking on #12 Maryland. #6 Miss St plays Jackson St, #11 Kentucky plays Belmont, Alabama takes on Houston, and Georgia plays GT on the ACC network at 1pm.
