they are always out there showing their evidence to the media, both prosecutors and defendants, partly because the media is also doing their own investigations....and also to influence the public, especially with political situations.

Yes, at times during the investigation, the police/prosecutor may keep some information confidential to ensure witnesses are telling the truth, but they give pretty good details of where they are at.
