recollection is that he took over for a year when Costas left, having previously done KU radio games. It was a controversial hire for that reason, but he acted like a pro and bought in completely. You would have thought he was born and raised in CoMo and bled black and gold.
I think he was better than anyone we've had since then, although I say that without being able to remember if John Rooney came before or after Harlan. Rooney was very good.
