Even if you're right, at least Dems will not be able to change the SYSTEM itself by eliminating the legislative filibuster to pack the SCOTUS and the Senate with DC and PR.
To put it simply, the amount of damage they can do is drastically reduced.
I will also add, social media has been a game changer and increases the amount of scrutiny on politicians and their voting records. So "reverting to form" will be more difficult than it was in the past.
