the midwest became desensitized to it before the wave really hit here. Everyone was gearing up in April for the apocalypse and it never came. After a couple of months, life slowly started going back to normal and it seemed like it was all a big fuss over nothing. Now it really is hitting here and it's difficult to reverse that perception.
