I knew I remembered seeing this article while scrolling through my FB feed. kU Med is getting transfer requests from hospitals as far as "5 hours away". Some include covid 19, but many are needing emergency surgery, Trauma, or other ICU care.
According to data compiled by the Mid-America Regional Council (MARC), across the Kansas City region 116 (18.5%) of ICU beds are being used by COVID-19 patients, 356 (56.9%) are used by Non-COVID-19 patients and 154 (24.6%) are available, based on a seven-day rolling average.
