They did not use to, then there was news earlier this year that they had proposed letting athletes in all sports transfer and become immediately eligible when going from one conference team to another. I never saw if that proposal was implemented or not.
I thought the biggest hurdle to Hansen playing right away was that the SEC, regardless of NCAA regulations, still does not allow transfers within conference to play right away.
