All sides play under the same rules. All sides are given notice at the same time.
If you don't know the U.S. election for President is on November 3rd, every 4 years, and/or fail to get registered in a timely manner, it is you suppressing your own vote.
It is a lie that there is institutional or Republican, or Democrat voter suppression. That would have to come from national party leaders speaking on behalf of the whole party. Local rogue officials suppression not the whole party. State laws are party and color blind.
There are individuals, associated in some way, officially or unofficially, with Republicans and Democrat, and possibly others as well, who do suppress votes, usually, by failing to accept legitimate ballots cast by eligible registered citizens of the United States, throwing ballots away, damaging legitimate ballots so they are rejected, hiding some so they don't count.
These acts can be widespread, and it has been in some instances. We've all heard the stories, and each case needs to be judged on its own merits.
What is not voter suppression;
yes, I'm talking to you JG;
is requring
proper verification of citizenship as required by the Constitution,
proper registration,
proper identification of the voter,
proper residence,
and timely voting and submission of the ballot at a legally authorized location.
Everyone is given ample time to get these matters settled months in advance of the elections, with the exception of those turning 18, (and some jurisdictions allow for registration while still 17), and those that suffer some legitimate emergency which prevents them from being able to vote. That is life, not targeted voter suppression.
Enforcing the legal requirements is not voter suppression.
